Description
Background
Nanotechnology is a family of promising opportunities and emerging technologies for
a vast range of applications in energy, electronics, biomedical, environment as well as
engineering and materials. Big programs and efforts have been launched internationally
and in many countries to exploit rapidly expanding nanotechnology developments. Still
obstacles and risk hamper expectations of fast and easy returns on investments.
The seminar is directed to sharing experiences of nanotechnology for growth in Russia
and Sweden. It is also an arena for exploring further contacts and cooperation.
Rusnano
was established in 2007 by the Russian state as an investment company for commercializing
nanoindustry projects and innovations. Rusnano is in charge of Russian national
policy of nanotechnology research and development. The Russian nanoproduct
market 2008 was estimated to more than 20 G€. Rusnano which has a capital base of
3 G€ has so far invested more than 1,5 G€ in nanoprojects as fabrication of nanoproducts,
building infrastructure for nanotechnology projects including scientific forecasting
and road maps, standardization and certification as well as care of nano-safety.
